Veterans from Trauma to Triumph

During WWII, Leon H. Faddis served from 1944 to 1945 on the USS Alaska, a battle cruiser assigned to protect the American fleet in the South Pacific against Japanese Imperial forces. Upon his return to the States, Leon suffered for over 67 years from nightmares and other symptoms related to his combat experience as an anti-aircraft gunner trying to protect the American ships from the dreaded Japanese Kamikaze planes. Leon decided to deal with his personal struggles in a unique way. He put his story into a song. This has helped him deal with the hidden scars of battle. After many years, he was able to overcome the lingering trauma through the sharing of his story and the creation of this timeless song of hope and his faith.
